Human beings live in public as well as private spaces and perform specific actions within these spaces. In addition to daily activities of human needs, both spaces regulate order. While every person has a personalised sense of order in privacy, general provisions in public spaces have to be obeyed. Any deviation from regularity is perceived as displacement of the rules and the norm. Such „messy“ moments in public spaces are the starting point of the research. As one of many possibilities of such traces, this thesis defines them as displacements of objects from private space into public space. In this context, these objects are considered as traces of human activity, which create a form of alienation within the public space and transform it into something noticeably apparent and perceived. The question of the perception of space and the misplaced objects is fundamental. It queries whether public space changes as soon as objects from private space are added.
